Durban (Port Natal before 1835) is a South African city in the municipality of eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal province. The city name is also the Zulu name for Durban. The city itself has almost 600,000 inhabitants, while more than three million people live in the metropolitan municipality of eThekwini, including a large Indian community.
Durban is thanks to the attractive beaches and subtropical climate a popular South African holiday destination. The port is one of the largest natural harbors in the world.
